HealthChoice Basics

HealthChoice is Maryland’s statewide Medicaid managed care program that began in 1997.  The HealthChoice program provides health care to most Medicaid enrollees and those enrolled through the

Maryland Children's Health Program.

 
What are the Benefits with HealthChoice ?
   

 

 

HealthChoice provide comprehensive benefits including:

  • Inpatient and outpatient hospital care

  • Physician care

  • Laboratory and x-ray services

  • Nursing home and home health care

  • Medical supplies

  • Services for children under early and periodic screening, diagnosis, and treatment program (EPSDT)

  • Clinic services

  • Prescription drugs

  • Dental care

How do I Enroll in HealthChoice?
 

After you become eligible for Medicaid or MCHP, you will receive enrollment materials from HealthChoice.   Currently Maryland has seven participating health plans. 

  • Amerigroup

  • Coventry Diamond Plan

  • MedStar Family Choice

  • Jai Medical Systems

  • Maryland Physicians Care

  • Priority Partners

  • United HealthCare

 

You have 21 days to enroll in your choice of health plans. 

 

 

Choose wisely - you can not change health plans

for one year after enrollment.
